Marijuana smell alerts police

The odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle during a traffic stop at 11:39 p.m. Thursday led to the arrest of the driver, Brodie Bretz.

According to the Great Bend Police Department, Bretz was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup when he was stopped at  18th and Jackson for a traffic violation. After the GBPD officer reportedly smelled marijuana, a search of the vehicle was conducted and over 100 grams of marijuana were located, along with drug paraphernalia.

Bretz, 29, was transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked in lieu of a $50,000 bond for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

The pickup was impounded and towed by Marshall’s towing.
