On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Great Bend Police Department responded to a non-injury one-vehicle rollover crash in the Walmart parking lot shortly before 8 a.m. According to the report, Tara Collins, 22, of Ellinwood was traveling eastbound in the trafficway east of Grant Street when she reached down for her dog while driving. The 2008 Chevrolet Impala she was driving then struck a concrete post and rolled over onto its top. The incident was observed by passing motorist Michael Surmcz, of Katy, Texas, who stated he had assisted Collins exit her vehicle. Collins refused treatment at the scene after an evaluation by Great Bend EMS.
