Crime Stoppers

On Oct. 24, a residence at 2711 Washington in Great Bend was burglarized between the hours of 5 and 10:30 p.m. Items stolen included a Samsung camera, prescription Oakley sunglasses and Cellucor-brand supplement drink mix. Loss was $875. Great Bend Police Chief Dean Akings, speaking for Crime Stoppers of Barton County and Great Bend, asks anyone with information about this or any crime to call Crime Stoppers at 792-1300 or 888-305-1300.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made six ambulance runs Wednesday.

At 3:17 p.m. they were dispatched to a gas leak at 2901 16th St., caused by a gas line that was cut by workers.

There was a ditch fire at 100 NW 60 Ave. at 4:14 p.m. Chief Mike Napolitano said the high winds fueled the fire.

Firefighters also responded to a fire on the river dike at Second and Fry at 8 p.m.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A vehicle hit a deer at NW 110 Avenue and west K-4 at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A campus security officer at Barton Community College was checking a male’s room late Wednesday, looking for a person that was egging vehicles in the parking lot. This resulted in an arrest of an individual for possession of suspected narcotics with intent to distribute.

A car hit a deer on U.S. 56 at milepost 208 at 5:41 a.m. Thursday.
