Kansas Highway Patrol

Roger Eugene Rousch, 61, of Stafford, was injured Thursday afternoon when his semi-trailer went off a Stafford County road. He was northbound on SE 80 Avenue at 2:45 p.m. and left the roadway due to a medical condition. The Peterbilt truck rolled in the east ditch. Rousch was taken to the hospital in Stafford.

 

Great Bend Police

A burglary at 2901 18th St. reportedly occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday. Someone broke into the garage and took approximately $1,000 worth of items.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a vehicle in the 1900 block of 23rd Street, it was reported Wednesday. Another hit-and-run was reported in the 1200 block of Coolidge Street, and another at Forest and Madison.

A burglary at 2901 16th St. was reported Wednesday afternoon. Miscellaneous items were taken from a garage.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made eight ambulance runs on Tuesday and seven on Wednesday. There was a small grass/brush fire in the 400 block of SW 60 Avenue at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Hoisington Fire Department

Two junk vehicles being used for parts caught fire at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday. One car had no motor and the other had no battery. They were in the backyard at 1073 NW 10 Ave. It is believed that a piece of paper caught fire from the sun beating down on the windshield of one car.

Barton County Sheriff

Great Bend Fire Department Ambulance and the sheriff’s office responded to 10th and Odell in Great Bend when a subject on a bicycle was hit by a pickup at 4:48 p.m. Wednesday. The cyclist had a scrape to his arm.

A vehicle hit a deer on U.S. 281, south of Great Bend, at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday.
