Great Bend Police

A vehicle driven by Jose Arias struck a vehicle driven by Tricia Johnson, last Friday in the 900 block of McKinley.

A vehicle driven by Rachel Hawkins stuck a vehicle driven by Lynn Johnson, Friday in the 1400 block of Kansas.

A burglary was reported Friday at 3337 Meadowlark. Someone entered the home and took items.

A burglary was reported Friday at 1910 Madison; an X-box was taken from the home.

Kori Kort was driving north on Washington turning right onto 10th and struck a pole on Friday.

A vehicle driven by Samuel Trahan struck a vehicle driven by Kurtis Koch at Broadway and Wilson on Friday.

A vehicle driven by BCSO Deputy William Rains was westbound on SW 20 Road at 9:34 p.m. Friday and left the road while turning north on SW 10 Ave. It hit a utility pole and fence post; the driver was not injured. A Great Bend officer worked the accident because no Highway Patrol units were available.

The sheriff’s office requested police stand by in area of 10 Road and 30 Ave while they looked for Raymond Chapman, 34, shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday, after he allegedly ran on foot from a traffic stop.

Theft of items that were in the yard at 1200 Monroe for a garage sale was reported Saturday morning.

Someone broke out the window on a 2004 Chevy at 2320 16th St., it was reported at 12:12 a.m. Sunday.

The occupant of 2022 Van Buren reported several subjects were in his yard at 2:06 a.m. Sunday, wanting to fight. All of the subjects left prior to officers’ arrival.

Theft of a vehicle from 2707 28th St. was reported at 4:09 a.m. Sunday.

A broken window, possibly from a pellet gun, was reported Monday morning at 1607 Main St.

Criminal damage to a door at 1614 Lakin Ave. was reported Monday.

A semi-trailer with unknown driver struck a vehicle driven by William Getman at Second and Main at 1 p.m. Monday.

Burglary and theft of a ring, bracelet and clothing from 3633 23rd St. was reported Monday.

Burglary and theft of a TV from 1818 Morphy St. was reported Monday evening.

A vehicle door in the 3800 block of 12th St. was dented at an unknown location and time.

Kathren Glade was driving north on Washington at 11:29 a.m. Tuesday and struck a vehicle driven by Timothy Gerdes that was stopped in traffic.

Theft of a boys 20-inch green bike from 5808 16th St. Terrace was reported Tuesday.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A vehicle was eastbound in the 1200 block of NW 150 Road at 7:28 a.m. Friday and struck a deer.

A deputy on patrol turned around to stop a Mustang known to be driven by Raymond Chapman. As the officer attempted to catch up, the vehicle stopped in the roadway, and the driver fled the scene, around 5 a.m. Saturday. Police were called to assist and the vehicle was towed.

A Dodge truck stolen out of Pratt County was located west of Kiowa Road and south of the river dike, shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday. It had been set on fire. Pratt officials were contacted and they asked the BCSO to take photos; Pratt did not want the vehicle, which was completely burned, and no evidence was found in the area. The owner of the vehicle came and picked it up.

The K-9 indicated possible presence of narcotics when a vehicle was checked at McKinley and Railroad Ave. late Saturday. Nothing was found, but the driver reportedly confirmed that narcotics may have been in the vehicle recently.

Reserves and firefighters were among the responders checking out smoke in the 1500 block of U.S. 281 Bypass at 11:53 p.m. Saturday. All people ran from the scene in what appeared to be a high school party.

At 1:07 a.m. Sunday, a man reported being hit in the face by an unknown subject at Willy J’s, 206 North U.S. 281.

A 1995 Malibu reported stolen on Sunday in Great Bend was found in a church parking lot at 1106 Frey St. on Monday.

Callers reported two or three mattresses and box springs in the middle of the highway near 75 E. K-4 on Tuesday evening were blocking traffic, causing vehicles to go off the road. They were removed.
