Aug. 12 service call log

A semi-trailer loaded with hay rolled on West K-4 at NW 110 Road at 8:85 a.m. The driver was not injured. He said he lost control of the rig on the curves west of Hoisington and went into the ditch. The road was not blocked. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.

A vehicle hit a deer on SE 70 Ave. and SE 20 Road at 11:43 a.m. KHP responded.

A vehicle driven by Roxanne M. Buettgenbach of Hoisington went through the T intersection sign at North Washington and NE 50 Road at 4:25 p.m. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Barton County Jail. She was released on Sunday, Aug. 14, after posting a $2,500 surety bond.

Ray Witham of Hudson was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and registration not assigned to vehicle. The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 9, and the vehicle was discovered in a ditch on NW 60 Ave. and West Barton County Road at 5:20 p.m. He was booked at the Barton County Jail and released after posting a $500 cash or surety bond.

Aug. 13

Around 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Jonathan Panning reported wrecking a vehicle Friday night in the 100 block of NW 50 Ave., approaching West Barton County Road. The 2007 Dodge Ram truck went through the intersection, entered the south ditch and hit guide lines for an electric pole, along with a barb wire fence. Tickets were issued for failure to report, leaving the scene of a non-injury accident and no current proof of insurance.

An individual reported that theft of an Apple iBook computer and $250 cash from 5005 Second Ave. in Albert occurred sometime Friday.

Aug. 14

A man reported hearing what sounded like shots from a fully automatic gun in the area of the Diversion Dam at 7:10 p.m.

Aug. 15

A tan and white bull with a white "check mark" on its head was reportedly stolen from 57 SE 16 Road. The owner reported last seeing the animal Saturday evening, and being unable to locate it Sunday evening.

An unknown person took a hydraulic dump trailer from a farm at NE 170 Road and NE 60 Ave.

Aug. 16

A woman called 911 Tuesday evening after being locked out of her car — by her dog. The motorist reported she was 2.5 miles north of NE 30 Road on K-156 and had gotten out of her Chevy Lumina but left the motor running. The dog inside the car locked the doors. Marshall’s Towing unlocked the car.

 

Great Bend Police

Aug. 11 calls for service

A suspected shoplifter at Walmart was served with a notice to appear in Great Bend Municipal Court.

Someone cut the fence on the north side of the flood control dike. Loss was $150.

A pool cleaner was stolen from 3224 Main Apt. 9. Loss was $400.

A burglary at 1719 Morton St. was reported. Someone entered the garage and stole a gas can.

Someone kicked in the back door at 1419 19th and stole items out of the house. Loss was $1,500.

Aug. 12

A burglary at 3737 Robin Road was reported. Someone entered the residence and took prescription pills.

A vehicle driven by Lou Anna Mueller was eastbound on 24th St. turning north onto Main at 11:11 a.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Kevin Aumiller, who was westbound on 24th St.

A woman reportedly rammed a car into a light pole in the 4800 block of 17th St. Terrace at 12:40 p.m. in an apparent attempt to harm herself. She was taken to The Center for Counseling and, after being deemed a danger to herself or others, was transported to Larned State Hospital.

A driverless vehicle rolled into a wall at KFC at 2:59 p.m.

A 24-year-old woman was accused to stealing medication from a residence at 214 Pine St. She was contacted and transported to the sheriff’s office where she was booked into jail in lieu of bond.

Aug. 13

A "large fight" somewhere on 12th St. was reported at 3:27 a.m.

A vehicle driven by Oscar Montes-Delgado was northbound on Heizer at 9:57 a.m. and hit a telephone pole. He was transported to jail with an alleged blood alcohol content of .216.

Several broken watermelons on Kansas Ave. at 4:11 p.m. caused a traffic hazard.

Theft of $35 worth of gasoline from 1315 10th St. was reported at 9:26 p.m.

Someone stole the stop sign at 27th and Williams St.

Aug. 14

A 2001 Chevy car was stolen from 1037 Adams St.

A child’s 49cc motorcycle was stolen from 821 Morphy St.

A wallet containing miscellaneous identification was stolen from 3005 Williams St.

A vehicle driven by Kylie SInclair was southbound on Rock Bridge Road at 3:43 p.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Albert Schulte, who was westbound on 24th St.

An injury accident on Ninth St. was reported at 6:32 p.m., after a vehicle struck a juvenile pedestrian. The boy bumped his knee, but had no injuries.

A gun stolen from P&S Security in a December 2010 burglary was recovered Sunday night in Hutchinson.

Aug. 15

A vehicular burglary at 1205 Eighth St. was reported. A stereo and speakers were stolen.

A vehicle driven by James Zimmerman was eastbound in the 1900 block of 10th St. at 6:44 a.m. Monday and struck another eastbound vehicle, driven by Tammy Krom.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a Chevrolet Cobalt in the 3100 block of Stone St. sometime Saturday night, it was reported Monday.

A van was reportedly burglarized somewhere on 12th St. Medication and change were stolen.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the 1600 block of Van Fleet Lane.

A burglary at 416 Locust St. was reported after it was discovered that DVDs and pictures were missing from the residence.

Aug. 16

A vehicle driven by Randy Whipple was eastbound on 10th St. turning south into Walmart at 1p.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Kendra Wirtz, which was also eastbound on 10th.

A vehicle driven by Angela Kats was westbound on 18th turning south onto Hubbard at 7:03 p.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Harry Adams, which was eastbound on 18th St.

Aug. 17

A vehicle at 5220 Ridgeway Drive was broken into and several items were reportedly taken, including at .22 caliber Rugar pistol.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made six ambulance runs on Tuesday. At 3:27 p.m. they responded to a small grass fire at 172 North U.S. 281.
