Great Bend Police

A vehicle driven by Gary Anderson was backing from a parking stall in the 2000 block of Lakin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and struck a vehicle driven by Peggy Burton, who was eastbound on Lakin.

A man was served a notice to appear in municipal court, after allegedly leaving Charlie’s Place bar, 1109 Main, without paying his tab of $30.25.

A burglary at 2231 Morton St. was reported Wednesday. Someone entered and took a laptop computer and a Wii console; total loss was $500.

A semi-automatic .22 caliber handgun was reportedly stolen from a residence at 2807 Gano St.

 

Kansas Highway Patrol

A passenger in a car was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital with undetermined injuries on Wednesday, after the car hit a rock that fell from a dump truck, eight miles northwest of Great Bend on K-156.

The car was a 2004 BMW driven by Alan James Anderson, 61, of Logan, Iowa. The injured passenger was Nancy Jean Anderson, 61.

Tony Del Leeds, 31, of Great Bend, was driving the Kenworth truck, turning in to Cheyenne Bottoms. According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol and Barton County Sheriff’s Office, he was hauling dirt and rocks when the tailgate came open, dropping part of the load onto the highway at 3:50 p.m. A few minutes later, the car hit one of the rocks.
