Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made seven ambulance runs Friday, two Saturday and eight Sunday.

At 9:51 a.m. Saturday they responded to arching power lines at 119 Locust, and did a stand-by until the power company arrived.

At 4:30 p.m. Sunday they responded to 216 Maple, where a smoke alarm was set off by cooking. They also investigated a smoke smell at 5:15 p.m. at 1300 Stone St.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A water heater at 511 A St. in Claflin was on fire at 1:46 p.m. Saturday. Claflin Fire Department responded. There was no other damage to the house or property.

A mailbox at 223 SW 60 Road was run over by someone on a four-wheeler, it was reported Sunday.

A burglary at 611 Windmill Lane was reported Sunday. A laptop was taken from the house.

A vehicle driven by Charles Faurot hit a deer on NW K-96 at mile marker 178 around 9:45 p.m. Sunday.

 

Great Bend Police

A motorist in a red Chevy pickup reportedly drove off from 1315 10th St. at 4:20 p.m. Friday without paying for $57.81 in fuel.

A vehicle driven by Guillermina Montes was southbound, backing out of a private drive in the 5400 block of Seventh St. at 4:44 p.m. Friday, and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Jamie Rupp.

At 10:18 a.m. Saturday, a person turned in cash found on 30th St.

Travis Leech, 30, Great Bend, was arrested and booked for aggravated assault Saturday afternoon, after allegedly trying to ram another person’s vehicle while driving down 10th St. Bond was set at $20,000.

Damage to the windshield on a 2002 Oldsmobile at 205 10th St. was reported Saturday.

The side window on a 2004 Ford pickup at 313 Buckeye St. was broken, it was reported Sunday.

A large tool box with tools was found in the middle of 10th St., just east of K-96, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday. At 1:50 p.m., a man reported he had lost his tool box and tools at an unknown location in Great Bend, and described the property that had been collected. The items were released to him.

A couch was in the middle of Fifth St. at 11:25 a.m.

A motorist in a black Ford car reportedly drove off from 1906 Main at 1:18 p.m. Sunday without paying for $45.84 worth of fuel.

A vehicle driven by Chris McCord was eastbound in the 5300 block of 10th St. at 2:50 p.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Cynthia Carrasco, who was also eastbound.

Emerio Nunez-Jimenez was driving west at 6:31 p.m. Sunday and left the roadway, striking a tree. He was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital.

A burglary and theft at 1300 Morton St. was reported Sunday night.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary around 3:50 a.m. Monday after they were reportedly seen crawling under storage shed doors at 5210 10th St. Theft of items from 1649 K-96 was reportedly related to this case.
