Barton County Sheriff

An unknown vehicle struck a T-intersection sign and fence on SW 10 Ave. and SW 20 Road, it was reported Friday.

Alan Moran was driving east on NW 50 Road at 2:10 a.m. Saturday when the semitrailer went off the road at NW 10 Ave., hitting the edge of the culvert. The truck came back on the road but the driver lost control due to a flat tire, and the rig went into the north ditch. Moran was not injured, but the trailer had major damage and the tractor also had damage.

Theft of a three-wheeler from the river near West U.S. 56 and SW 10 Road was reported Saturday morning. The three-wheeler had been left overnight after it broke down.

A vehicle driven by Darlene Deering struck two newspaper boxes, a planter and a telephone box in the 1400 block of NW 100 Road at 10:39 a.m. Sunday.

 

Great Bend Police

A car rolled into a fence in the 2500 block of McBride Parkway on Friday.

Medicine was reportedly stolen during a burglary at 1820 Harrison St. Loss was $110.

A vehicle struck a parked vehicle at 809 Williams St. at 6:18 p.m. Friday.

A subject reported someone taking her photos from Walgreen’s. A theft case was taken.

Someone broke into a Ford Mustang while it was parked at the Panther Activity Center, 1800 Odell St., and took items, it was reported Saturday.

A vehicle driven by Jared Disney, Great Bend, was northbound in the 1600 block of the U.S. 281 Bypass at 4:37 p.m. Saturday and struck a vehicle driven by James Hitchman, who was southbound. Disney was booked into the Barton County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was released after posting bond.

On Saturday morning, a man reported that a known person had come at him with a knife. The suspect claimed the other man had pulled a knife on him. A case was taken for review.

Theft of several items from a truck at Fifth and Pine was reported Saturday.

Theft of medication from a Great Bend Housing Authority apartment was reported Sunday.

A computer was reportedly stolen from Walmart sometime Saturday night when a fire door was open.

An unknown male reportedly stole money off the counter at Love’s Country Store, 1221 10th St., Sunday night.

 

Great Bend Fire Deparment

Firefighters made three ambulance runs Friday, three Saturday and eight Sunday.

At 4:30 p.m. Friday they were dispatched to 514 Cleveland St., where a fire alarm had been set off by cooking. There was also a false alarm Saturday morning at 1560 K-96 that was caused by a system malfunction.

Firefighters were dispatched to 1701 Apollo St. at 7:17 p.m. Sunday to check out an odor.
