Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Thursday.
At 5:22 p.m., they responded to a car fire at 1609 Main. Fire Chief Mike Napolitano reports that upon arrival they found a car owned by Beverly Cannon that had fire in the engine compartment. A fire extinguisher had been used prior to the fire department’s arrival; however, there were still flames that were quickly extinguished. There was minimal damage.

Thursday reports:
A book of checks was stolen from the residence at 1302 Truman St.
A vehicle driven by Jacob Ford was eastbound on 10th St. changing lanes at 12:08 p.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Mark Reames, who was also eastbound.
A motorist in a white Escalade was southbound on Main turning west onto 10th at 2:17 p.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Karsten Schrater, who was also southbound on Main turning west onto 10th. The other driven left the scene.
A vehicle driven by Karly Esfeld was southbound on Washington St. at 6:34 p.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Penny Maddox, who was also southbound but slowing in traffic at Broadway Ave.
