Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made four ambulance runs Friday, one Saturday and one Sunday.

There was a false alarm on Friday.

At 10:29 p.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to a small fire in a shed used to house chickens at 400 S. Patton Road. Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said an electrical short was the cause of the fire.

Firefighters also performed a carbon monoxide check on Saturday.

At 2:54 a.m. Monday they responded to a dryer fire at 2403 31st St. The fire was out when firefighters arrived, but they ventilated the house for smoke. Damage was reportedly minimal.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A trespasser was reported Friday morning at 1322 SE 50 Road. Someone entered a shed, and shoe prints found at the scene are being matched with Stafford County burglaries.

A 2002 Nissan driven by Cody Waite was hit by a deer on NE 100 Ave. and NE 100 Road at 7:52 a.m. Saturday.

Mail and Great Bend Tribune boxes at 178 and 180 NE 30 Road were hit by an unknown vehicle, it was discovered Saturday.

Parents were called at 2:40 a.m. Sunday to pick up a juvenile or juveniles who had marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Barton Community College property.

 

Great Bend Police

A burglary at 1426 10th St. was reported Friday. Someone entered the house and took items.

Theft of medication and clothing from 5501 Ninth St. Lot 17 was reported Friday. Loss was $513.

An attempted aggravated robbery was reported at 1:14 p.m. Friday at 4800 17th St. Terrace. The victim reported being hit by an unknown male who attempted to take a wallet.

An identity theft case was taken Friday.

Two known people were served notices to appear in municipal court, for alleged shoplifting at Walmart, 3503 10th St.

Theft of an iPod at Great Bend High School, 2027 Morton, was reported Friday.

A $71.99 gas skip at 3610 10th St. was reported at 2:55 p.m. Friday.

A vehicle driven by Sonia Garcia was eastbound on Ninth St. at 3:12 p.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Arturo Campa, who was also eastbound.

Theft of a tire rim from the yard at 1019 Holland St. was reported Friday, although the party stated he had recovered the property.

At 10:58 p.m. Friday, an individual reported being battered by a male at 2701 10th St. who wanted to take the victim’s car stereo.

At 2:06 a.m. Saturday, at motorist lost control of a vehicle in the 200 block of Main St., striking the curb and rolling the vehicle. The driver, Rodrigo Adame, Great Bend, was contacted at 2:26 a.m. and reportedly refused a breath test. Adame was booked into the Barton County Jail and released after posting a $1,000 surety bond.

Theft of gas from 2716 10th St. was reported at 6:41 a.m. Saturday. The suspect was a male in a brown truck.

A four-wheeler was stolen from the yard at 3107 Williams St. around 7 a.m. Saturday.

A vehicle driven by Megan Barfield backed from a private drive and struck a parked vehicle at 5843 Aspen Dr. at 10:28 p.m. Saturday.

A vehicular burglary at 5823 Eisenhower Ave. was reported Sunday morning. Property loss and damage to the 2007 Ford truck totaled $1,600.

Ray Witham was driving south on K-96 at 12th St. at 1:29 p.m. Sunday when he fell asleep. His vehicle crossed the center line and struck a light pole.

Storage sheds at 3118 Washington were broken into, it was reported Sunday.

Theft of money from a vehicle at 1513 Cherry Lane was reported at 6:24 a.m. Monday.
