Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made two ambulance runs and two fire runs on Monday.

At 5:57 p.m. they were dispatched to K-96 and NW 70 Ave. for a ditch fire.

At 6:01 p.m. they were dispatched to a car fire at Auto Zone. Chief Mike Napolitano said the fire was out before the truck arrived. They believed the fire was in the area of the transmission.

 

Area fire departments

A baler and stubble field were on fire at 4:52 p.m. Monday afternoon, 1 mile west and 3 miles south of Galatia in the Galatia Fire Department’s district. Otis Fire Department also responded.

 

Great Bend Police

Theft of tile from 1500 U.S. 281 Bypass was reported Monday.

Money and medication were stolen from a vehicle parked at Jan’s Spirit Shop, at 4006 10th St., it was reported Monday afternoon.

Theft of a bicycle from 215 Plum St. was reported Monday.

Theft of a red, 26-inch Schwin bicycle from the High Rise Apartments, 1101 Kansas Ave., was reported Tuesday morning. Loss was $200.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A vehicle driven by Karla Evers hit a deer in the 200 block of SE 80 Ave. at 8:20 p.m. Monday.
