Barton County Sheriff

A large amount of freezer meat was dumped in the northbound lane of NE 10 Ave. at NE 100 Road, it was reported Monday. The County Shop removed the items.

The shops were also called to replace a stop sign that was down at NE 120 Road and NE 60 Ave.

Wednesday’s calls included several animal complaints. A golden lab was running on SE 90 Ave. at U.S. 56 in the morning, at 5:15 p.m. 10-12 goats were in the south ditch of SE 30 Ave. and SE 40 Ave. on SE 20 Road, and at 8:45 p.m. cows were out on NE 100 Road and NE 10 Ave.

 

Great Bend Police

Wednesday, July 27

One person reported she was possibly "scammed" during a phone call from the 202 area code, and a man reported an attempted phone scam from a caller in the 360 area code, but said no money was given.

A vehicle parked behind Mitchell’s Bakery, 1110 Main, was damaged.

Police assisted the Larned Police Department in serving a search warrant at 3515 Broadway Ave. at 10:18 a.m.

A counterfeit $100 bill was passed Tuesday at 5320 10th St.

At 12:39 p.m., someone reported a parked vehicle with four puppies inside at 3607 10th St. The owner was contacted and took care of the problem.

Unauthorized used of a bank card was reported.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Tuesday and four on Wednesday.

There was a grass fire on North Washington Road on Tuesday.

There was one false alarm on Wednesday, caused by a system malfunction.
