Great Bend Fire DepartmentFirefighters made eight ambulance runs Wednesday and four Thursday.At 3:36 p.m. Thursday they responded to Third and Chestnut for a vehicle fire. They found an older model Chevy van with smoke coming from the engine compartment. Chief Mike Napolitano said a passerby with an extinguisher had already knocked the biggest part of the fire down before firefighters arrived.
