Barton County Sheriff

County Shops were notified that the stop sign at NE 70 Road and NE 140 Ave. had been down for two days.

Three saddles and a cutting torch were taken from a barn at 1330 NE 10 Ave., sometime in the last two weeks.

Two cows were stolen from 1374 NW 130 Road on July 18 or 19.

A lightning strike in the Pawnee Rock area started a grass fire around 4:15 p.m. Thursday on the north side of U.S. 56, and power was out in the city. Midwest Energy responded and energy was restored around 5 p.m.

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made 11 ambulance runs on Thursday. There were no fires.

Great Bend Police

A woman reported her wallet was stolen Thursday at Walmart.

Someone broke the windows on a semi-trailer at 5501 Ninth St., it was reported Thursday.
