Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Tuesday and six on Wednesday.

Illegal fireworks started a brush fire that spread into trees south of Stone Lake on Tuesday afternoon.

A fire at 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, in the back yard of 2521 Ninth St., was also caused by fireworks.

At 11:57 p.m. Wednesday, there was another tree fire on the river dike.

 

Barton County Sheriff

On Wednesday, a vender at the Barton County Fair reported having cash stolen.

A skunk at 637 SW 10 Ave. was acting as if it had rabies and was destroyed Wednesday evening. The skunk was first discovered in a garage and charged at the person who found it.

 

Great Bend Police

Wednesday reports:

A bank reported someone had purchased plane tickets on someone else’s credit card.

A clarinet was stolen from a storage shed on 10th St. Loss was $800.

A vehicle driven by Joshua Ward pulled from a private drive on 10th St. at 1:56 p.m. and struck a westbound vehicle driven by James Mangees.

A search warrant was served at 2115 Sunset Road at 3:48 p.m.

A window was broken at 2215 San Domingo St.

At 9:31 p.m., a woman reported an unknown male on a bike passed her several times saying "whoop whoop." Police were asked to check on the subject but did not make contact.
