Great Bend Police

Thursday reports:

Motorist Don Lang was backing from a parking stall at 10:56 a.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Alvin Heine, who was southbound in the 700 block of Washington St.

Scottie Schmidt was stopped in traffic in the 1400 block of McKinley St. at 3:15 p.m. and his vehicle was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Ronald Sanders.

A Great Bend resident reported neighbors were stealing electricity. A notice to appear in municipal court was signed and served.

A $5 gas skip by a white male in a pickup at 3907 Broadway Ave. occurred over the noon hour.

A resident at Cedar Park Place reported letting two unknown subjects into her residence to use the phone, and one of them took her ID.

 

Barton County Sheriff

Thursday reports:

A county resident reported being harassed on the Internet by a suspect in Massachusetts. In an unrelated case, another resident reported receiving harassing phone calls after an altercation with a subject at his home.

Jared Keenan, Great Bend, was arrested after running from a house at 16th and Odell. Keenan, who had avoided being picked up on a warrant for several days, was booked into the Barton County Jail on a Rush County warrant for probation violation, to be held without bond.

Kevin Gross struck a vehicle at a bridge at NE 30 Road and NE 10 Ave. at 4:51 p.m. Gross initially left the scene and was suspected of being intoxicated. He was transported to the hospital; the other driver was not injured.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Lonnon Sharp reported a vehicle fire at 366 SE 70 Road, at 1:26 p.m. Thursday. Sharp came home for lunch, parked his 1984 Jeep in the yard, and looked out the window a short time later to discover the Jeep was on fire.
