Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Friday, seven Saturday and seven Sunday.

At 6:10 p.m. Friday, units responded to a structure fire at 3400 Lakin Ave. (See story under "Area Briefs.")

At 1:06 a.m. Saturday they responded to an automatic alarm at the High Rise apartments, where they found that water leaking through the ceiling on the first floor had activated the alarm.

 

Great Bend Police

Theft of an air conditioning unit from a residence at 2801 Morton St. was reported Friday.

A Great Bend resident reported losing his wallet and someone had used his debit card three times.

A vehicle driven by Vaughn Boyd was northbound on Williams at 1:08 a.m. Friday and rear-ended a vehicle driven by Earleen Nairn, who was stopped at the Broadway and Williams stop light.

A vehicle driven by Norbert Muth was pulling from a drive in the 2400 block of Main St. at 3:35 a.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Joyce Essmiller, who was southbound on Main.

Three gas skips were reported in three days at 2716 10th St. Theft of fuel by a motorist in a silver Jeep was reported at 9:34 p.m. Friday. At 2:46 p.m. Saturday, a motorist in a red Ford Bronco reportedly drove off without paying for $40.19 worth of gas. At 4:56 p.m. Sunday, another gas skip was reported; the suspect vehicle was a green Suzuki.

Damage to a window at 1800 Eighth St. was reported Saturday. The victim later reported items were missing from the building.

An unknown person damaged a car at 3117 28th St., it was reported Saturday.

Police are investigating a report of an aggravated sexual battery by a 74-year-old man.

Theft of a cell phone from 2400 Gano St. was reported Sunday.

A Ford Explorer was "in the dike" on 28th St., it was reported Sunday night.

A vehicle driven by Tory Arnberger was eastbound in the 5200 block of Broadway Ave. at 11:39 p.m. Sunday and struck two legally parked vehicles.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A Barton County resident reported being assaulted by a former employee on North Washington Ave. near NW 50 Road on Friday morning, after a dispute over a paycheck.

An individual’s dog reportedly attacked a rural Great Bend woman on Sunday morning while she was walking her dog in the 300 block of Point Drive.

 

Kansas Highway Patrol

A Salina man was taken to Via Christi Medial Center in Wichita after hitting a deer with a motorcycle, Saturday night in Ellsworth County. Shawn Lee Lingo, 25, was driving south on K-141, five miles north of Langley, when the deer ran in front of the 2003 Honda, around 10:45 p.m. He was wearing a helmet.

A one-vehicle accident occurred at 3:10 p.m. Sunday in Pawnee County, 1.5 miles west of Burdett on K-156. A 2004 Nissan driven by Alpha Lee Bogan, 66, of Junction City went onto the shoulder; the driver then over-corrected and the vehicle turned sideways, rolling one time and coming to rest on its wheels. Bogan was taken to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned with undetermined injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
