Great Bend Fire Department

 

Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Friday, three Saturday, six Sunday and seven Monday.

They responded to an automatic alarm on Friday, but found no fire.

At 2:05 a.m. Sunday there was a small grass fire at Second and Maple, and firefighters were called back to that location at 9:11 a.m.

 

Great Bend Police

A burglary and criminal damage to property at Rising Hands Massage, 1704 K-96, was reported Friday. Someone pried open the west door and stole wellness products. Loss was $2,000.

Vehicles driven by Janet Chism and Glenn Opie collided at 10:24 a.m. Friday at Forest and Morton.

A woman reported forgetting her billfold in the shopping cart at Walmart, and that someone then used her debit card and MasterCard. Loss was $383.

Theft of a 1985 Chevy Caprice by a known person from the 1100 block of Morphy St. was reported Friday night. The car was located in town at 11:28 p.m. and returned to the owner undamaged.

At 10:17 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to 401 Almond St. for a report of a disturbance involving about seven people, and a collision of a truck and a car.

An unidentified caller at 12:03 a.m. Saturday reported more than 20 people were involved in a fight on 12th St. Officers did not find a fight, but arrested a 21-year-old woman for disorderly conduct and drunk pedestrian.

A vehicle driven by Victor Urbina-Gonzalez rear-ended a vehicle driven by Dana Schmidt at 12:13 p.m. Saturday on 10th St. at Harrison.

Vehicles driven by Melbin Medina and Brian Hernandez collided at 3:57 p.m. Saturday at Fourth and Walnut.

Someone scratched the paint on a 2000 Cadillac in the Walmart parking lot on Saturday. Loss was $500.

At 4:36 p.m. Saturday, a man reported seeing his trailer, reported stolen in 2010, attached to a pickup at the compost site. A Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputy handled the call, due to it being stolen in the county.

Vehicles driven by Jerome Gerstenkorn and Mason Roach collided at 5:07 p.m. Saturday at 16th and Hubbard.

A mattress in the 1600 block of Harrison St. was moved out of the roadway at 5:55 p.m. Saturday.

Damage to a 2001 Dodge pickup at 1615 11th St. was reported Saturday night. Loss was $500.

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police received a report that an unknown intoxicated male was offering alcohol to minors on the north side of Stone Lake. Police were unable to make contact.

The fence to the flood control area was cut in several locations, it was discovered Monday.

Berre Bert was backing on Main at 3:31 p.m. Monday and struck a vehicle that was stopped in traffic.

Jana Troendle was driving north in the alley in the 2500 block of Sixth St. around 4 p.m. Monday and struck a fence at 521 Odell St., then left the area on foot. Troendle was then arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail for no driver’s license, leaving the scene, failure to report, no insurance, illegal tag and other infractions.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A motorist in a Ford Explorer hit a deer in the 900 block of West Barton County Road at 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Deputies checked highways K-96 and K-4 around 9:55 p.m. Friday, to assist Rush County law enforcement, seeking subjects involved in an altercation in Otis.

The back window of a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle in the Barton Community College Fine Arts parking lot was broken sometime Saturday night.

A stolen trailer was recovered after being seen at the compost site in Great Bend (see above).
