Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs Wednesday, five Thursday, three Friday, eight Saturday and eight Sunday.

There was one false alarm and one burning complaint last Wednesday

At 12:17 p.m. Thursday, they responded to a small grass fire at 812 Patton Road.

At 10:54 p.m. Sunday, they responded to a ditch fire at 343 North Washington.

 

Kansas Highway Patrol

A Saint John couple was taken to Promise Regional in Hutchinson on Thanksgiving day after a car/deer collision in Stafford County.

Cleo Bartlett, 85, was eastbound on U.S. 50, five miles east of Stafford, at 9:40 a.m. Thursday when the 2012 Buick he was driving struck a deer in the roadway. He and passenger Darlene Bartlett, 82, were both wearing seat belts. She was injured and he sustained possible injury. The car was towed.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A 15-year-old motorist rolled a vehicle in the 300 block of NE 20 Ave. at 7:09 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. This was initially reported as an injury accident but was later listed as a non-injury accident.

A motorist in a Buick LeSabre rear-ended a grain truck on NW 200 Road and North U.S. 281 at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.

A woman at the Great Bend Regional Hospital emergency room told an officer Wednesday evening she had been hit with a flashlight, and sustained a laceration and possible broken nose. On Thursday she reported being battered by a known person Wednesday evening in Barton County, and again Thursday morning in Stafford County. Ian R. Shuey, Great Bend, was arrested by Stafford County officers for domestic battery, and was also booked at the Barton County Jail for domestic battery. He was released Friday after posting two $2,500 surety bonds.

A motorist in a Chevy Silverado hit a deer on K-156 at NE 50 Road at 7:12 a.m. Thursday. KHP responded.

A vehicle hit a deer on K-156 at NE 120 Ave. at 6:27 p.m. Thursday. KHP took the call.

 

Great Bend Police

A burglary at 708 Jefferson St. was reported Wednesday. Several items were taken from a storage unit.

Theft of a stereo, speakers and GPS from a vehicle at 821 Morphy St. was reported Wednesday. More missing items were reported Friday.

A forged check at 1305 Main was reported.

Gary P. Dino, Great Bend, was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault, after allegedly assaulting a male with a machete at 5320 10th St. Wednesday afternoon.

A $39.64 gas skip at 1315 10th St. was reported at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday.

Theft of a DVD/CD stereo from a vehicle at "Eighth St." was reported Wednesday. Loss was $250.

An eastbound vehicle driven by Ethel Evel was merging into the turn lane in the 2600 block of 10th St. at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday and struck a vehicle driven by Machelle Raya, who was also eastbound in the turn lane.

Tires were cut on a vehicle at 403 Almond St., it was reported Thursday.

Someone broke into a residence at 1723 Stone St. and took a 300-watt amplifier, it was reported Thursday.

A vehicle driven by Oscar Urbina was turning south onto Grant at 10th St. at 3:10 p.m. Thursday and struck a vehicle driven by Brian Brock, who was stopped at the stop light.

A vehicle tag was stolen from 3503 10th St., it was reported Friday.
