Great Bend Fire Department

A fire call before 1 a.m. Thursday was the first in about a week for the Great Bend Fire Department. The last one, on Saturday, Oct. 29, was a false alarm.

Firefighters have stayed busy with Emergency Medical Service calls. They made four ambulance runs on Friday, Oct. 28, five on Saturday, two Sunday, seven Monday, two Tuesday and seven Wednesday.

Great Bend Police

A man reported he and his girlfriend bought Chiefs tickets together then broke up. She cancelled his ticket but kept the money. He was told this is a civil case.

A student’s friend took her car for a joyride Wednesday at Great Bend High School. Police are looking for a blue 1996 Mustang.

Airbags were deployed after two cars collided in the 2500 block of Broadway Ave. at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday.

A 1989 Buick stolen from Medicine Lodge was recovered Wednesday afternoon at a Great Bend residence. It was impounded.

On Wednesday evening, a man reported his friend "was beat up really bad last night at Walmart" by a known person but was refusing medical treatment.

Loud booms were reported at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Van Buren, at 8:24 p.m. in the 1100 block of Morphy St. and at 1:56 a.m. Thursday from somewhere on 10th St.

A known person was served a notice to appear in municipal court for allegedly stealing $101 worth of fuel from 2802 10th St.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A school bus hit a deer at SW 30 Ave. and West Barton County Road at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday. No children were on board.

Fifteen vehicles in the Rosewood parking lot at 384 North Washington Ave. were keyed, it was discovered Wednesday morning.
