Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made four ambulance runs Tuesday.
At 10:30 a.m. units were sent to 456 SW 50 Ave., a site near the diversion dam where trees burned last Sunday, to extinguish some trees that were still smoldering.

Barton County Sheriff
A Lyons woman contacted law enforcement from 10th St. in Great Bend Tuesday evening to report being “kicked out of the car” after being choked by a subject. The vehicle was stopped by a Kansas Highway Patrol officer shortly before 9 a.m. on the east side of Ellinwood and this became a Great Bend Police case (see below). The victim did not want medical treatment.

Great Bend Police
A burglary at 418 Dogwood was reported Tuesday. Someone entered the residence and took items.
Copper wire was stolen from 5205 Ninth St., sometime in the past week.
A 23-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of battering a Lyons woman.
Theft of an antique wheel from the yard at 2320 24th St. was reported Tuesday.
