Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Friday, four Saturday and eight Sunday.

At 7:22 a.m. Saturday they were dispatched to 221 Baker Ave. where a power pole was burning, and at 11:46 a.m. they were dispatched to 1513 Lakin Ave., where an overheated appliance had caused smoke in the house. There was one false alarm Saturday.

On Sunday there was one false alarm and one standby for an aircraft with problems.

 

Great Bend Police

Theft of three different prescription medications from 3009 16th St. was reported Friday. Loss was $50.

An individual reported being bitten by a dog at 2926 Quivira Ave. Friday morning. The dog owner was cited for no rabies vaccination and the humane society picked up the dog.

Women’s clothing found in the Pizza Hut parking lot at 4101 10th St. was booked as "found property" Friday afternoon.

Theft of a yellow light bar from a pickup at 911 Eighth St. was reported Friday.

An officer stopped a vehicle in the 2500 block of Ninth St. at 1:22 a.m. Saturday, but the driver ran and was not found. The vehicle was impounded.

A burglary at 1912 Adams St. was reported Saturday. Three breakers were stolen from the residence. Loss was $72.

A motorist in a green car reportedly left 3620 10th St. at 4:15 p.m. Saturday without paying for $57 worth of gas.

A Roadmaster-brand bike was found Saturday evening in the 100 block of Third St. and booked into evidence.

Theft of a blue and silver 24-inch Roadmaster bicycle from 2716 10th St. was reported Sunday afternoon. Loss was $30.

A burglary at 1801 Eighth St. was reported Sunday evening. A 38-inch television was taken from the residence.

 

Barton County Sheriff

Cattle were out at various locations in recent days. At 8 p.m. on Friday, a cow and calves on the north side of NE 20 Road and NE 40 Ave. were put in by a deputy, as their owner could not be located.

A vehicle towing salvage vehicles hit a deer on K-156 near mile marker 140 around 8:10 p.m. Friday.

Motorist Donna Turner struck a deer with her vehicle on NE 30 Road and NE K-156 at 10:50 p.m. Friday.

At 9:45 p.m. Saturday a deputy helped a citizen whose Jeep was out of gas on West U.S. 56 at SW 40 Ave.

A fight at the nightclub at 206 North U.S. 281 was reported at 12:59 a.m. Sunday. A female reported being battered by two women she knows. Small fights involving about five different groups broke out around 1:38 a.m. Sunday at 178 North U.S. 281. The bar was closed at the owner’s request. The bar at 206 North U.S. 281 was closed at 1:56 a.m. at the owner’s request, and one person who had reported a battery later requested no charge.

Theft of a vehicle from 206 North U.S. 281 was reported Sunday night.

The stop sign on the NW corner of NW 50 Road and NW 20 Ave. was found in the ditch Sunday. East and west stop signs on NW 20 Ave. at NW 30 Road were broken.

A deputy talked to two motorists about road rage after an incident was reported on South U.S. 281 at 12:49 p.m. Sunday.

A complaint of alleged animal neglect in the county was referred to the Golden Belt Humane Society.
