Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made eight ambulance runs on Friday, 10 on Saturday and three on Sunday. There was one fire call on Saturday. At 7:40 p.m. units responded to a fire by the river south of the 1400 Block of 2nd street. Upon arrival found brush and trees burning. Units were on the scene for 2 ½ hours extinguishing the fire.

Great Bend Police
April 8
Theft was reported at JC Penny located at 1500 Kansas Ave. An employee was stealing money.
Fraud was reported at 5964 Broadway Ave.
A non-injury accident was reported at 10th and Main Street.
Theft of a trailer was reported at 4701 8th St.
April 9
Criminal damage was reported at 2520 11th St. A fence was damaged.
A non-injury accident was reported at 2523 11th St.
A non-injury accident was reported at 2706 20th St.
April 10
Criminal damaged was reported at Long John Silvers located at 3800 10th St. A window was broken out and $480 was stolen.
A narcotics violation was reported at 18th and Van Buren Street.

Barton County Sheriff
April 8
A non-injury accident was reported at SE 50 Road and SE 50 Ave.
A non-injury accident was reported at 1200 E U.S. 56. A vehicle hit a deer.

Kansas Highway Patrol

The KHP responded to a one vehicle accident at 5:10 a.m. on Friday.
A 2016 Freightliner driven by David Sparks, 61, of Shepherd Texas was eastbound on K-156 and drove into the south ditch. Sparks attempted to drive back onto K- 156 and the vehicle laid over on the passenger side.
Sparks received injuries and was taken to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital.
Sparks was wearing his seat belt.
