Great Bend Fire/EMS
Great Bend Firefighters made one ambulance run on Thursday.
They checked out a smoke smell at 4301 Quail Creek Drive at 8:04 a.m. It was caused by cooking, and there was little or no damage.
At 1:47 a.m. Friday, a small brush fire was reported on the south side of the Diversion Dam (the 400 block of SW 60 Ave.) Firefighters found a campfire and extinguished it.
Another brush fire was reported at 2:06 a.m. in the 300 block of north U.S. 281. This was a fire in a pit, which was an unauthorized fire since the county is under a burn ban.
At 5:23 a.m. Friday, a fire was reported in a tree row in the 200 block of SW 40 Ave., 1/2 mile south of Straub International. Firefighters arrived and extinguished a grass fire.

Barton County Sheriff
Hay at 850 NW 50 Ave. was burning again, Thursday morning. The fire originally started Tuesday, with Hoisington Fire Department responding Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sand from the back of a truck broke a motorist’s windshield on east U.S. 56 and NE K-156, shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.
A vehicle hit a deer and also damaged a mailbox at 8:57 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 281, somewhere north of St. John. The call was referred to Stafford County.

Door glass at 2025 Forest Ave. was shot out, it was reported Thursday.
A vehicle driven by Beverly Trimmer struck a vehicle driven by Patrick Stevenson, who was stopped in traffic at 1204 Main, at 2:20 p.m. Thursday.
A $52.01 gas skip was reported at 1315 10th St. at 5:40 p.m.
A vehicle driven by April Ward backed into a parked vehicle at 6:12 p.m. in the 1800 block of Heizer St.
