Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made seven ambulance runs Friday, six Saturday and three Sunday. At 3:28 p.m. Friday, they responded to 604 SW 20 Road to check on a smoke smell inside a residence. They found a power strip had shorted out and started to melt the plastic on the device.

Barton County Sheriff
A bailer was in the middle of the road at 6:15 a.m. Friday on North U.S. 281 and NW 140 Road (south of the Galatia turnoff). It appeared to have fallen off a truck.
A vehicle at 170 School House Road, Great Bend, was broken into sometime Friday night. Items were missing.

A vehicle driven by Robert Zahn struck a parked vehicle at 824 Morton St. at 11:37 a.m. Friday.
Theft of a 1989 Ford F-150 from 607 Holland St. was reported at 2:48 p.m. The pickup was located in the city and returned to the owner.
At 3 p.m. Friday, Brandon Hill of St. John reported a known person had hit him with a bat somewhere on Eighth Street. Police contacted the individual, who said he was defending himself because Hill had pointed a gun at him. Hill was booked into the Barton County Jail for aggravated assault, in lieu of $20,000 bond.
Someone keyed a vehicle at 420 Locust St.
An aggravated assault case was taken late Friday after a male reported Mark Moore had hit his vehicle on purpose in the Cottonwood Center parking lot at 3709 10th St.
A burglary at 2717 28th St. was reported Friday night. Someone broke into the residence, taking keys and a wallet.
A vehicle struck a parked vehicle at Braum’s, 4209 10th St., it was reported Saturday afternoon.
Someone cut a fuel line at Rent-A-Center, 3727 10th St.
Kansas license tag PDG 242 was reportedly stolen from 315 10th St.
A 25-year-old man who was drunk at the Knights of Columbus, 723 Main, was transported via ambulance to Great Bend Regional Hospital at 7:22 p.m. Saturday.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of the U.S. 281 Bypass at 8:24 p.m. Saturday. A woman was found on the side of the road with injuries. She was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital and then flown to Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita.
A known person allegedly shoplifted a memory card from Dillons, 4107 10th St. A notice to appear in municipal court was signed and served.
A vehicle driven by Ashley Witten struck something at 19th and Morphy at 12:04 a.m. Sunday.
Ryan Wong, Great Bend, reportedly kicked in the front door on a residence in the 5800 block of 16th St. Terrace at 12:25 a.m. Sunday. He was located and arrested for criminal damage to property. He was booked and released after posting a $1,000 surety bond at the jail.
A purse was found Sunday morning in the 1800 block of Main Street and booked in.
A burglary at Dollar Tree, 3502 10th St., was reported Sunday. Cash and Coke products were taken.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle at 1226 Harrison St., it was reported Sunday.
A battery was reported at 10:53 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Pine Place
Theft of a purse from a vehicle at Walmart Supercenter, 3503 10th St., was reported.
Miscellaneous items were stolen from 219 Elm St., it was reported Sunday.
At 1:31 a.m. Monday, police received a report that someone had broken the glass in a door at Pizza Hut, 2006 Main St.
