Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters were dispatched to Alfalfa Pellets LLC, 379 NW 40 Road, Great Bend, at 6:58 a.m. Wednesday. Moisture in bales, combined with heat, and lead to spontaneous combustion. Firefighters separated bales so the fire would not spread and allowed them to burn. Because the bales can burn for hours, someone saw the fire around 10 p.m. and called it in again.
There were two Emergency Medical Service calls on Wednesday.

Theft of Rent-A-Center items was reported Wednesday.
An individual at Pathways ResCare reported being battered by a client.
An assault was reported at 6:20 p.m. at 2nd and Plum.
A non-injury crash was reported at 7:55 p.m. at Buff Car Wash, 4800 10th St.
A fight was reported at 7:58 p.m. in the 1000 block of Warner Circle.
A non-injury crash was reported at 8:38 p.m. at Walmart.
A burglary was reported at 716 Morton. Someone broke into the residence and took items.

A non-injury crash was reported at 7:13 a.m. Wednesday at Kaiser Total Service, 652 S. Main, Hoisington.
Criminal damage to property was reported at 33 SE 35 Ave., Great Bend.
A non-injury crash was reported at 7:10 p.m. on North U.S. 281, Great Bend, at mile marker 111.
