Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service responded to five calls Friday, May 24, three on Saturday, six on Sunday and four on Monday.

Fire calls included a utility pole fire reported at 12:31 a.m. Friday at 691 West Barton County Road; one smoke smell on Saturday; a lightning strike at 7:45 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Morton and one report of an electrical box fire on the back of a residence at 10:21 a.m. Sunday at 1448 16th St.

A vehicle fire was reported at 3:14 p.m. Sunday at Freddy’s Frozen Custard, 3008 10th St.

There was one false fire alarm Monday, caused by a system malfunction, and at 1 p.m. there was a gas leak 4938 Quail Creek Dr.


Great Bend Police

Jeffery Fertig was driving south on Main at 1:37 p.m. Friday and struck Myron Watkins, who was walking east across the street.

A tire on a truck at 3rd Ave. and Kiowa Road was damaged.

Damage to a vehicle at Stone Street Properties, 1123 Stone St., was reported.

Theft was reported at 220 Baker Ave.

Fraud cases were reported at 3220 18th St. and 2432 24th St.

Theft was reported at Walmart, 3503 10th St.

Police received a report at 6:26 a.m. Saturday of a possible disturbance and a car parked in the street in the 1900 block of Cherry Lane. A Chevy Impala was impounded and towed as the owner could not be located.

A 2008 Chevrolet Suburban was reported stolen from 2001 Holland St. on Friday. It was recovered Sunday morning.

Items were reportedly stolen from a vehicle at Travelers Budget Inn, 4200 10th St.

A non-injury crash was reported at 12:50 p.m. Saturday at 10th and Harrison.

Criminal damage to property at 401 Maple St. was reported at 1:23 a.m. Sunday.

A burglary was reported at McDonald Tank-Fiberglass, 470 C St., after an unknown person entered the building and took a vehicle and other items. Some property was later recovered.

An injury crash was reported at 1:19 p.m. Sunday at McDonald’s, 3307 10th St. Hope Buckley, a pedestrian, was on the sidewalk and was struck by an unknown motorist pulling out of a private drive, who then left the scene.

A maroon Huffy bike was stolen from 1806 Holland St.

A gas skip was reported at Zip Stop No. 5, 1001 Main.

Criminal damage to property at 5817 16th St. Terr. was reported Monday, after someone drove through the yard and tore up the grass.

A non-injury crash was reported at 12:49 p.m. Monday at Broadway and Washington.

An individual was battered by an unknown male around 3:30 p.m. Monday at McDonald’s, 3307 10th St.

Theft was reported at 1614 1/2 Lakin Ave.


Barton County Sheriff

Theft was reported Saturday at SE 20 Road and SE 105 Ave., Ellinwood.

Theft was reported at 3807 2nd St., Great Bend.

A non-injury crash was reported at 9:13 p.m. Saturday on East U.S. 56 at mile marker 214, Ellinwood.

A non-injury crash was reported at 9:12 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of SE 20 Road, Great Bend.
