Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of traumatic injuries at 3:43 p.m. Saturday at the Panther Activity Center, 2424 19th St.

A semi-truck was on fire in the Best Western Angus Inn parking lot, 2920 10th St., at 5:47 p.m. Saturday.

There were two reports of possible structure fires that turned out to just be fire pits. These were at 11:10 a.m. Friday at 16th and Holland and at 7:07 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Fruit Street.


Great Bend Police

Police received a report of a prowler or possible burglary in progress at 1:08 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Hubbard Street. The K-9 Unit responded but nothing was found.

A sex offense was reported at 12:05 p.m. Friday.

A non-injury crash was reported at 1:34 p.m. Friday at Broadway and Washington.

A non-injury crash was reported at 3:07 p.m. Friday at Great Bend High School, 2027 Morton St.

Two after-school disturbances involving juveniles were reported Friday. At 3:40 p.m. there was a report of two juveniles fighting at Great Bend Middle School and at 3:53 there was a report of a battery involving a juvenile at GBHS.

An unknown person reportedly left Applebee’s restaurant without paying for a meal at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

An officer transported a subject from the University of Kansas Health System Great Bend Campus to Larned State Hospital at 9:10 a.m. Saturday.

A sex offense was reported at 10:32 a.m. Saturday.

A non-injury crash was reported at 12:34 p.m. Saturday at GBHS.

A jacket was found Saturday afternoon in a backyard in the 1500 block of Adams Street. It was collected and booked into evidence.

Two individuals shoplifted items at Walmart, it was reported at 8:02 p.m. Saturday. Notices to appear in municipal court were signed and served.

Two vehicles collided on Harrison Street between 21st and 23rd at 10:27 p.m. Saturday. No one was injured.

Theft of meds from the Great Bend Health and Rehab facility at 1560 K-96 was reported Sunday.

A burglary was reported at 1419 Park Ave. Someone broke into the garage and took items.

Officer Taylor Reed stopped a vehicle driven by Eric Ramos at 2:20 p.m. Sunday at Second and Holland and arrested Ramos for driving while his license was suspended. Reed reportedly located methamphetamine on Ramos as he was being booked into the Barton County Detention Center at 3:17 p.m., resulting in an additional charge. 

A non-injury hit-and-run crash was reported at 3:59 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Jackson Street.

A non-injury crash was reported at 6:34 p.m. Sunday at Walmart.

Police received a report at 9:05 p.m. Sunday that Santos Ortiz had threatened his ex-girlfriend with a handgun in the 200 block of Holland Street. He was arrested and booked into the county jail on a charge of aggravated assault with bond set at $20,000. The firearm was not located.


Barton County Sheriff

An injury crash was reported at 5:49 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of NE 60 Ave., Claflin. No serious injuries were reported.

A non-injury crash was reported at 7:41 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of SE 90 Ave., Ellinwood.

An injury crash was reported at 5:28 a.m. Saturday at NE 180 Road and NE 160 Ave. No serious injuries were reported.

A burglary in progress was reported at 9:55 a.m. Saturday at 1310 NE 130 Ave., Claflin.

A possible narcotics violation was reported at 11:27 a.m. Sunday at 12th and Washington, Great Bend.

A trash complaint/dumping was reported at 4:14 p.m. Sunday at NE 20 Road and North Washington Ave., Great Bend.

A disturbance was reported at 11:42 p.m. in the 400 block of East 3rd Street in Hoisington.
