Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service made three ambulance runs Friday, two Saturday and two Sunday.

On Saturday, firefighters responded to a gas leak at 7:41 a.m. in the 1300 block of Morton, an unauthorized burn at 3:31 p.m. in the 2400 block of Zarah Drive, a false alarm caused by a system malfunction, a fire at 6:03 p.m. in the 300 block of SW 50 Ave., and a smoke smell at 6:48 p.m. at Playa Azul, 4909 10th St.

On Sunday there was a grass fire at 3:37 p.m. in the 300 block of SW 40 Ave. and another fire at 2:33 p.m. in the 100 block of NW 50 Ave. 


Barton County Sheriff

A search warrant was executed at 1:13 p.m. Friday at 253 South Center St., Hoisington.

Illegal hunting was reported Friday evening in rural Ellinwood.

Battery cases were reported Friday night at 500 Barton Dr., Pawnee Rock, and at the Barton County Detention Center.

Barton County and Great Bend law enforcement and K-9 assisted an outside agency at 10:50 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Avenue G, Rice County.

The BCSO Drug Recognition Expert was called to assist Pawnee County law enforcement at 2:08 a.m. Saturday.

A traffic arrest was made at 2:35 a.m. Saturday at Great Bend Fire Station Two, 5851 10th St.

Non-injury crashes were reported Saturday at 6:19 a.m. at North Kennedy Ave. and West Seventh Street, Ellinwood; at 11:47 a.m. at Fort Zarah, 330 East U.S. 56; and at 6:36 p.m. at 245 NW 130 Ave., Albert.

A traffic arrest was made at 10:10 p.m. at NW K-156, mile marker 131, Great Bend.

There was a report of shots fired at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West B Street in Ellinwood.

There were reports of shots fired at 12:18 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Southeast 1 Ave., Great Bend, and at 12:33 a.m. in the 5500 block of Apache Road, Great Bend.

A report of fraud was made Sunday at the Sheriff’s Office.

Criminal damage to property was reported at NW 130 Road and NW 10 Ave.; at NW 130 Road and NE 30 Ave.; and at NW 150 Road and Susank Road.

A non-injury crash was reported at 7:02 p.m. Sunday at SW 30 Road and South Washington Ave., Great Bend.


Great Bend Police

K-9 Lazar was used on a traffic stop at 12:40 a.m. Friday.

A non-injury crash was reported at 9:06 a.m. at 10th and Baker.

A resident at the Great Bend Housing Authority, 1101 Kansas Ave., reported theft of items.

GBPD assisted with a search warrant at 253 South Center St. in Hoisington.

Police received two reports Friday of someone being scammed into buying gift cards.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a vehicle in the Great Bend Health and Rehab parking lot at 1560 K-96.

Someone reportedly broke a window at Travel Lodge, 3200 10th St.

A non-injury crash was reported at 8:18 p.m. Friday at Burger King, 3929 10th St.

A K-9 was called out at 12:36 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Ave. G in Rice County.

Two Child in Need of Care (CINC) cases were taken Saturday afternoon at separate addresses.

A convenience store employee reported a subject sitting in a vehicle holding a machete at 2:13 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle left prior to officers’ arrival.

Theft of a phone was reported at 3131 Stone St.

Saturday evening, police received a battery complaint involving a juvenile.

There was a report of possible shots fired at 12:33 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of Apache Road.

A call for an outside agency assist at The Center for Counseling, 5815 Broadway, was made at 1:17 a.m.; followed by a K-9 call-out in locating a suspect, at 1:20 a.m.

Police received a report at 9:29 a.m. Sunday of a suspect sleeping in the caller’s vehicle in the 1500 block of Morphy Street.

At 10:55 a.m., GBPD officers assisted in the location of Ryan Mead at 1312 Cherry Place, Apt. C., in reference to an Ellinwood case. The K-9 was called to that address at 11:28 a.m.

An officer arrested Shon Rome on a Rush County warrant at 4:15 p.m. Sunday at Eighth and Hubbard Street. He was booked and released with a $500 own-recognizance bond.
