Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service responded to five ambulance calls Friday, five Saturday and six Sunday. There were no fire reports.


Barton County Sheriff

A non-injury crash was reported at 5:44 a.m. Friday on West U.S. 56 at mile marker 194.

A non-injury crash was reported at 7:11 a.m. at NE 170 Road and Susank Road, rural Susank.

At theft was reported via a phone call at the sheriff’s office, 1416 Kansas Ave.

A cruelty to animals case was taken after an animal complaint Friday afternoon in the 3900 block of Second Street, Great Bend.

A pursuit was initiated at 2:52 a.m. Saturday at Second and Main, Great Bend. The Great Bend Police Department also responded.

A non-injury crash was reported at 5:37 a.m. in the 800 block of West Barton County Road.

The K-9 Unit was dispatched to the 200 block of Washington Ave., Great Bend, at 12:49 p.m. Saturday.

An ATV accident/incident was reported just before 6 p.m. Saturday at the diversion dam, SW 60 Ave., Great Bend.

Criminal damage to property was reported at 625 Cheyenne View Dr., Great Bend.

A non-injury crash was reported at 9:09 p.m. Saturday on NE K-156 at mile marker 135.

A burglary in progress was reported at 1:10 a.m. Sunday at 193 SE 1 Ave., Great Bend.

A fire was reported at 2:57 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of NW 80 Road, Olmitz.

A fire was reported at 10:44 a.m. at 967 East Barton County Road, Ellinwood.

Property was recovered at 2:56 p.m. Sunday at Railroad Ave. and Washington St., Great Bend. This was a BCSO case and the sheriff’s office responded, but the GBPD was also notified. The GBPD log shows this was a stolen Polaris Ranger and it was recovered in the river.

A one-vehicle, non-injury crash was reported at 6:50 p.m. Sunday at the diversion dam, 463 SW 60 Ave., Great Bend.


Great Bend Police

Theft of a license plate, KS 080MZE was reported Friday at 1209 4th St.

Theft of a handicap placard was reported at 300 Frey St.

A search warrant was executed at 4:44 p.m. Friday at the police department 1217 Williams St.

A non-injury crash was reported at 5:49 p.m. Friday at 501 Kiowa Road, Great Bend.

An injury crash was reported at 10:09 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of 9th St. when a vehicle struck a legally parked vehicle.

An individual who was upset that officers may be watching his home was advised of how to file a complaint.

Theft of a cellphone was reported at 1139 p.m. Friday at 2522 6th St.

Criminal damage to property was reported Saturday at 1900 Mulberry Lane.

Police were asked to check the area at 1:45 p.m. Saturday when a subject was seen shooting a BB gun out of a vehicle in the 1600 block of Jefferson St. A male was located and served a notice to appear in municipal court.

Police also received reports of a juvenile with a BB gun and of juveniles shooting a sign with a BB gun between 5:49 and 6:42 p.m., at undisclosed locations.

Someone slashed four tires on a vehicle at 1109 Odell St., it was reported Sunday morning.

A burglary was reported at 1300 Hard St. Someone took two chain saws from a garage and left two teddy bears in exchange.

Someone found a driver’s license, which was booked in at the GBPD.

Police took a call about a possible sex offense; the reporting party had questions about a message she received on Facebook.

On Sunday evening, criminal damage to property was reported at 82 South Washington Ave. Someone cut the fence on the flood control area.
