Two men were transported to hospitals Friday, after a semitrailer and a John Deere sprayer collided at 12:05 p.m. on K-96, 4 miles northwest of Great Bend. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Clarence Ray Messick, 60, St. John, was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with what was believed to be serious injuries. Jacob Tinsley, 30, of Larned, was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center - Great Bend Campus, with possible injury evidenced by a complaint of pain.

Messick was driving a 2015 Peterbilt and following the eastbound 2022 John Deere 410R sprayer driven by Tinsley. He began to pass the sprayer as Tinsley was making a left  turn onto NW 30 Road. The truck hit the left rear section of the sprayer, causing it to roll over onto NW 30 Road. The truck came to rest on the south shoulder.

KHP reports Messick was wearing a safety restraint and Tinsley was not.
