Great Bend Police
Theft of an ivory tusk from an office at 1008 Roosevelt St. was reported Sunday morning. Loss was $2,000.
Someone broke into a vehicle at 1201 10th St. and stole items, it was reported Friday.
Police were called to 2300 Broadway Friday afternoon after a woman reportedly tried to pay her bill will counterfeit money. She left prior to officers’ arrival.
Lita Schults was driving east on 16th St. at 3:29 p.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Myra Sanchez that was southbound on Heizer St.
Theft of a wallet from 3503 10th St. was reported at 12:04 a.m. Saturday.
Theft of a 1996 Jeep from 2712 Gano St. was reported at 2:08 a.m. Saturday, and at 7:12 a.m. the alleged victim reported her debit card being used in Haysville. The vehicle was located a short time later by the Haysville Police Department, and a suspect in the Jeep was arrested. Officers said they did not find a debit card.
A vehicle driven by Thomas Keyes struck a house at 730 Coolidge St. at 4:05 a.m. Saturday.
Vehicles driven by George Moberly and Sharlyn Stewart collided at 19th and Main at 2:02 p.m. Saturday.
Tracy C. Reeves, 33, of Great Bend, was arrested at 3:06 p.m. Saturday for an alleged violation of a Protection From Abuse order and criminal trespass. Her vehicle was impounded because it was reportedly illegally parked and she refused to let officers move it. Suspected narcotics were located in the vehicle, and she was booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Theft of a blue, boys BMX bicycle from the front yard at 2622 16th St. was reported Saturday evening. Loss was $75.
Police received several reports of possible fireworks or shots fired between 9:48 p.m. Saturday and 1:43 a.m. Sunday, from various locations around Great Bend.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the 5200 block of Eisenhower Ave., it was discovered Sunday.
Theft of two bikes from the front yard at 219 Third St. was reported Sunday.
Theft of a vehicle tag from 1101 Morphy was reported Sunday.
A $43 gas skip at 2334 Main was reported at 3:34 p.m. Sunday.
Theft of $5.01 worth of motor fuel from 2337 Washington was reported at 9:07 p.m. Sunday.
Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made seven ambulance runs Friday, eight Saturday and seven Sunday.
There was one unauthorized burn Saturday morning, and they responded to one carbon monoxide check.
On Monday afternoon, firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire in the vicinity of West 10th St. and Heizer Road.
Barton County Sheriff
The sheriff’s office received reports of an underage drinking party and bon fires at the Diversion Dam late Friday/early Saturday. Deputies and reserve officers went to the dam, at 465 SE 60 Ave., and contacted parents of juveniles. One juvenile ran when officers pulled in and they were unable to find him.
The sheriff’s office also received reports Saturday night of a large, loud party with suspected underage drinking at a house in rural Great Bend. Deputies reported there were 15 to 20 juveniles and several parents. There was no alcohol, the music was turned down and the kids were told to go inside.
Kane Young was driving a Ford F-150 pickup on U.S. 56 just east of Doonan’s at 4:43 a.m. Sunday and crossed the center line after falling asleep. The pickup struck a Kenworth driven by Mark Reed, who reported "very minor" injury.
