An alleged traffic infraction in Great Bend led to a suspect being booked Sunday on narcotics charges, Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir reports.
Around 1 p.m. on Nov. 26, a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s office stopped a vehicle driven by Craig Brenden, age 49, of Great Bend, in the 5300 block of 10th St. During the course the investigation, sheriff’s deputies discovered suspected marijuana, fentanyl, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Brenden was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Barton County Jail without incident. At the detention facility further drugs were found on Brenden’s person, Bellendir reported.
Brendan was booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as trafficking contraband in a correctional institution. He is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
