Truck hits semi parked on shoulder of K-156 in Burdett

A truck struck a semitrailer parked on the south shoulder of K-156 Thursday afternoon in Burdett. A passenger in the truck was taken to the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned, the Kansas Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, the crash occurred at 1:20 p.m., 100 feet west of Locust on Broadway Street in Burdett. The 2022 Kenworth was pulling a trailer with a Kansas tag and was legally parked on the shoulder.

The truck was a 1995 Dodge Dakota driven by Jerod W. Dailing, 44, of Norton. He had no apparent injuries. Passenger Alexandra D. Roberts, 28, from Garden City, had what appeared to be minor injuries. Neither occupant of the Dakota was wearing a seat belt, KHP reports.
