Two men died, including one former Great Bend resident, in a single-vehicle crash in Norton County last Sunday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the two men, Michael Dela Vega, 37, of Norton, and Andrew S. Campbell Sr., 44, of Colby and formerly of Great Bend, were traveling westbound at a high rate of speed in a 2006 Ford Mustang on K-383, 2 miles east of the U.S. 36 junction shortly after midnight on Nov. 21. Dela Vega, the driver of the vehicle, lost control, striking a guard rail on the north side of the highway. The car continued into the north ditch, then into a field, rolling multiple times. The car came to rest upside down in a field, facing northwest.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.
