KHP patch

A Natoma man was taken to Hays Medical Center to check on a possible injury after a two-vehicle crash on Saturday in Ellis County. Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 8 p.m. on Sept. 23 on U.S. 183, about 3.9 miles north of Interstate 70.

Kenneth E. Kinderknecht, 68, of Collyer, was driving a southbound 2006 Toyota Sienna and slowed to look at a truck on the east side of the road that was for sale. Ethan D. Koelling, 19, from Natoma was also southbound behind Kinderknecht, driving a 2000 Chrysler 300M. Koelling attempted an evasive maneuver but the Chrysler struck the slower-moving Toyota.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Kinderknecht had no apparent injury but Koelling was taken to the hospital as he had a complaint of pain. Both vehicles were removed by Davis Automotive.
