TV LAND Fall TV is nearly upon us, which means the return of the network shows on the regular/old-fashioned schedule.

While there is certainly a wide variety of excellent TV on streaming services and cable, there are still some shows bringing their A game on the Big Five: ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW.

The comedies

Consistently hilarious, the comedy hour of New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine is heartfelt and packed with one-liners. Not to mention, both shows left viewers on cliffhangers last season. Whats going to happen now that Smeece are married? Will Jake last in Witness Protection?

Bonus: The loft gang will be meeting the precinct this season in an east-coast-meets-west-coast crossover.

The comic book shows

The CW now has Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, and theyve promised a number of crossover events that feature the characters stepping into each others worlds. For a real treat, Glee alums Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin will be doing a musical episode, lending their pipes to Kara Zor-El and Barry Allen.

If youre more of a Marvel person, the ever-stellar Agents of SHIELD begins its fourth season this fall. Dealing with the aftermath of tragedy, Daisy Johnson and the gang will also have Ghost Rider to contend with.

The competitions

Nothing like some people who are taking the risk of trying their talents out on a live TV audience to get viewers turning out in droves. The Voice, which took what American Idol did and modernized it long ago is now the only singing competition on the block. And this season of Dancing With The Stars will feature Ryan Lochte, which is sure to be entertaining if nothing else.

The crime shows

Television has no shortage of firefighter/police/detective/government officials solving problems while falling in love and navigating trauma. If crime drama is your cup of tea, youre in luck especially if you love Chicago. (Here's looking at you, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Chicago Med).

Longtime staples like NCIS and Law and Order also return this fall. There is a good chance some crimes will be solved throughout the course of the season on all these shows.

Football

Fall football is arguably the most anticipated sports season in America. Watch online or have friends over to watch the game and stay caught up on the biggest NCAA and NFL rivalries.
