THE COUCH Two animation legends collide with this magical Disney-themed couch gag from The Simpsons.
In 27 seasons, The Simpsons writers and animators have created almost 600 couch gags. Let that sink in a little bit. Thats almost 600 totally original and clever scenes that arent necessarily connected to the storyline of the episode, all to give you an extra laugh or two. And the hits just keep on coming.
Each Simpsons fan has their favorite couch gags. But if you also love Disney like I do, youll have one more couch gag favorite. Yes, this video is a Disney-animation-through-the-years couch gag, and its a delightful mash-up between the two worlds.
Longtime animator Eric Goldberg animated this gag. Hes been animating professionally since 1977 and began working for Disney on the movie Aladdin. He has continued to animate for Disney (among other companies) ever since, and hes currently hand-animating on Disneys newest project, Moana. If you read his list of credits as an animator, director and voice actor, youll see that hes kind of a big deal.
The couch gag evokes just the right amount of Disney nostalgia with nods to Steamboat Willie, Cinderella, Snow White and The Sorcerers Apprentice. However, I have to admit that my favorite part is the music, which is recognizable but changed just enough so theres no copyright infringement. But Im weird like that.
