A new report from the USC Annenberg Center for the Digital Future found internet usage at home has climbed to 17.6 hours per week.
Americans only used the internet for 3.3 hours a week back in 2000, when the center released its first version of the report.
Internet use overall, which includes time spent surfing the web while at home, jumped from 9.4 hours a week in 2000 to 23.6 hours a week in 2017.
The report also found internet usage has surged significantly with the addition of smartphones and tech.
For example, since 2010, the percentage of people who use their phones for the internet has jumped from 23 to 84 percent. The ratio of people who have a smartphone even jumped from 21 to 79 percent in the same amount of time.
Peoples taste in media consumption has changed, too, according to the report. In 2001, the Annenberg report found the ratio of print to online news consumption sat around 85-to-15 percent, whereas now it's 51-to-49, according to the report.
