Collin, a 7-year-old Star Wars fan, recently reached out to George Lucas with a question that had worried the aspiring Jedi Knight.
In a letter, Collin, told Lucas his dilemma.
"I don't like that a Jedi cannot get married," Collin wrote. "I want to get married without becoming a Sith. Please change the rule."
Lucasfilm sent the young Star Wars fan a package that included a letter answering his question.
A portion of the letter states, "To be a Jedi is to truly know the value of friendship, of companionship and of loyalty, and these are values important in a marriage. ... When you find someone that you can connect to in a selfless way, then you are on the path of the light, and the dark side will not take hold of you. With this goodness in your heart, you can be married."
Peggy Gilpatric, Collin's mother, posted a video of Collin opening the package and reading the letter on April 13, and, at the time of publication, the video had more than 400,000 views.
