Youve probably heard by now that Donald Trump is seriously considering making Mitt Romney his secretary of state. The two met last weekend in New Jersey, and sources this week continue to suggest Romney is close to joining the Trump administration.

The Washington Posts Kathleen Parker suggests that enlisting the help of Romney would be a smart move for Donald Trump.

Parker wrote in her column this week that Trump and Romney are so different in their politics that it may actually make sense for them to work together.

If ever there were a rarer pair think Doberman and Labradoodle I cant think of one, she wrote. Then again, how better to present a bad-cop/good-cop dynamic to a dangerous and fragile world? If Trump is perceived as unstable and potentially volatile, Romney is the face of calm, a steady hand to help guide the next presidents foreign policies.

Of course, Parkers fully aware of the bad blood between the two presidential candidates. Romney previously called Trump a "phony" and a "fraud." Trump fired back with some insults about Romneys business knowledge.

Still, she wrote that Trump and Romney agree on many foreign policy issues like how China has taken a lot of American businesses and represent two sides of debate on Russia, Parker wrote.

And while Trump sees strength in Vladimir Putin, Romneys a little more coy on the eastern European nation. The two differing opinions could serve well together.

Further to Romneys qualifications, hes an experienced dealmaker, a skill Trump obviously admires, according to Parker Super articulate and fluent in policy (as well as French, for what its worth), Romney is a cool thinker and, not insignificantly, a non-imbiber, also like Trump. Not least, he is by all accounts a thoroughly decent human being. A wise man would look no further.
