Abram S. “Abe” Goodwin 1931 - 2020

Abram S. “Abe” Goodwin, 89, passed away April 16, 2020, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. He was born on March 4, 1931, at Great Bend, the son of Abram and Twila (Glenn) Goodwin. He married Imogene Reeves McCord on Dec. 20, 1986, in Pawnee Rock. She survives.  

Abram attended Great Bend High School. He moved to Cody, Wyo., in 1948 and worked for an electrical contractor. He enlisted in the Wyoming National Guard, the 300th AFA BN was activated at the beginning of the Korean conflict. His unit was awarded two Presidential Unit citations. He was discharged with the rank of SFC.  

Abram was a member of the St. John Episcopal Church, American Legion Post #180, and Great Bend Alcoholics Anonymous. He worked the last 36 years at Midwest Energy. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and just being with his family and loved ones.  

Survivors include, his wife Imogene of the home; two sons, Mark Goodwin and wife Bokti of Vermont, and Rodney Goodwin and wife Susy of Lindsborg; two grandchildren, Daniel Goodwin and Andrew Goodwin; four stepchildren, Bill and Tanya McCord of Ellinwood, Larry and Diana McCord of Hawthorne, Fla., Daniel and Carolyn Maser of Great Bend, and Doug and Shirley Flick of Great Bend; nine step grandchildren, Shannaon Stephens, Dale Peterson, Christopher Maser, Brandon Maser, Ryan Flick, Daniel Flick, Heather Dombroski, Christopher McCord, and Jason Daily; and fourteen step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister. 

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2020, and 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the Great Bend Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Singleton. Military Rites will be conducted by the Kansas National Guard. Memorials are suggested to The Fallen Lineman Organization, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
