BELLA VISTA, Ark. — Adolf W. Kluender, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died April 21 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospice Care Unit in Little Rock, Ark. Born Jan. 11, 1923 in Ruskin, Neb., he was the son of William and Anna Kluender. On Sept. 12, 1953 he married Angelene “Ann” Kluender, in Great Bend. They moved to Bella Vista, Ark. from Great Bend in 1994 after he and his wife retired. Adolf was employed by Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America for 29 years. He loved to play golf, cards and board games.
Mr. Kluender served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne in World War II. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Sgt. Kluender was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Aug. 22, 1952. He was a member of United Lutheran Church and was active in their Shepherd Group.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sue Hutchins and husband Jim Hutchins of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Emil J. Kluender and his wife Evelyn of Yates Center; sister, Kay Frederick of Colby; sister-in-law Maxine and her husband Ray Wyatt of Bella Vista, Ark.; brother-in-law William McCoy and his wife Betty of Great Bend; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at the United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, Ark. The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. at the church followed by a 10 a.m. service.
