ELLINWOOD — Adolph “Joe” Honomichl, 89, passed away at Great Bend Health & Rehab in Great Bend, KS on July 11, 2019. Born in Lucas, KS on January 31, 1930 he was the son of Adolph R. & Anna (Nikodim) Honomichl. He graduated from Lucas High School in 1948. Later he joined the Army and served in Germany during the Korean War. After his service, he married Darlene Standlee in Russell, KS on March 10, 1956. They were married 61 years. Joe worked in the oilfield as a field superintendent and pumper retiring after 45 years.
Survivors include son, Steven Lee Honomichl (Angela), Poplar Bluff, MO; daughter, Karen Sue Bookout (Chuck), Ellinwood, KS ; and son-in-law Ray DeBusk of Dighton, KS. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother, Edwin Honomichl; sister, Evalyn Honomichl; brother, LaVern Honomichl; daughter, Linda K. DeBusk; and wife, Darlene Honomichl.
Funeral service will be 3 PM, Wednesday, July 17 at Cavalry Baptist Church in Ellinwood, KS with Pastor Jason Winget & Rick Standlee officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16 at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood from 3-7 PM with family receiving friends from 6-7. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
