Alan Douglas Ochs

HOISINGTON — Alan Douglas Ochs, 72, passed away July 4, 2020, at his home in rural Hoisington. Alan was born July 10, 1947, in Ransom, to Henry and Gwenola (Bagley) Ochs Jr. On Aug. 6, 1966, Alan married Jeannie Siefkes, and were later divorced. On Aug. 5, 1975, he met Leta (Jackson) in Hoisington, and they had remained together until her passing on Aug. 19, 2015.

Alan, growing up in rural Barton County, had been a Hoisington resident since 1959. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Alan was a career oilfield worker, working for LD Drilling for many years, and eventually as a machinist for GBI, retiring in 2012. He was a member of American Legion Post 286 and V.F.W. Post 7428, both of Hoisington.

Survivors include three daughters Kerry Lynn Brady of Ariz., Justina Ochs of Stafford, and Angela Ochs of Hoisington; two sisters, Lin Ochs and husband Henry Porter of Goodyear, Ariz. and Marcia Welch of Ft. Collins, Colo.; one brother, Owen Ochs and wife Deanna of Hoisington; four grandchildren, Bailey Kelly, Mercedes Gross, Jaylan Cartwright and Kataija Ochs; step siblings, Phil Christy and wife Marsha, Bob Christy and wife Leora, Cathy Ennis and husband Bill and Richard Christy and wife Brenda; step children, Wendell, Ruby, Michael, Mary, Linda and Orlin; and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gwenola Ochs, step father, Ivan Christy; step brother, Steve Christy; and step daughter, Brenda.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, with Ron Bailey officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Army National Guard Honor Guard. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.
