Alice Lucille (Karst) Boxberger 1921-2012


GALATIA – Alice Lucille (Karst) Boxberger, 91, passed away Aug. 1, 2012 at Rush County Memorial Hospital, LaCrosse.
She was born March 28, 1921 in Russell County on a farm at Milberger. The only child of Samuel and Mollie (Schwein) Karst, Alice grew to womanhood on the farm until the time of her marriage. After her marriage, she lived at Milberger on a farm north of Galatia with her husband and family.
Alice was baptized May 1, 1921 and confirmed June 28, 1936 in the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She remained a lifetime member of the church.
Alice L. (Karst) Boxberger was united in marriage to Reuben H. Boxberger on May 5, 1940 in the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Ben (Judy) Daubert, Bison; Mrs. Gary (Wanda) Demel, Great Bend; Dale R. Boxberger (Julia), Great Bend; and Mrs. Tim (Glenda) Funk, Otis; 12 grandchildren, Mark Daubert, Olathe; Marlin Daubert, Bison; Mickey Demel and Christie, Goddard; Dean Demel and Stephanie, Wichita;  Jason Demel and Kristen, Eudora; Tammy and Paul Smith, Salina; Jeff Boxberger and Christal, Great Bend; Stacey and Craig Gustin, Ellsworth; Jessica and Cade Beesley, Palco; Amy and Justin Kinderknecht, Salina; Jordan Funk, Salina; and Jennifer Funk, Topeka; 12 great-grandchildren, Dalton, Madison and Denton Demel, Britt and Brack Demel, Christopher Demel, Brynn Boxberger, Darrell and Macey Gustin, Coy and Daylen Beesley, and Kyndall Kinderknecht; and two great-great grandchildren, Paisley Lou Demel and Kinsley Collazo
Preceding her in death was her husband Reuben, her father, mother and a daughter, Wanda Demel.
Alice received her education at the Milberger School, Russell County, Kansas. She was a homemaker until April 19, 2008, then moving to Great Bend. Alice had several complications during her lifetime and her death will be mourned by her family, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, with Reverend Delvin Strecker and Pastor Amy Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Milberger Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service starting at 7 p.m. at Nicholson- Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.
