Aliease Delores Dougherty, 94, passed away on June 14, 2023, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kan. She was born on Feb. 11, 1929, in El Dorado, Kan., to Charles W. and Lucy Hadassa (Baker) Barker. On Oct. 3, 1947, she married Richard Dougherty; they later divorced.
A resident of Great Bend since 1947, Aliease was farm wife and homemaker. She was a member of the Great Bend Pilot Club and was a 4-H “El Caballo” Equestrian Leader, as well as an active volunteer for the Great Bend Humane Society and Central Kansas CASA. Aliease loved her animals and cherished time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Richard (Reva) Dougherty of Great Bend; eight grandchildren, Jon Thornbrugh, James Thornbrugh, Jeff Thornbrugh, Joshua Robinson, Marshall Miller, Michael Miller, Lori Strecker and Stacy Dougherty; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anita Van Tries of Tennessee, Berneal Baker of Wichita, Kan., and Norma Gilliland of Lincoln, Neb.; and a son-in-law, Ron Miller of Great Bend. She is preceded in death by two daughters, Ann Miller and Mary Robinson; her parents; a brother, David Wilson; and a sister, Joyce Whitaker.
Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2023, with the family receiving guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Rhonda Templing, S.A.M, presiding. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials have been designated to the Golden Belt Humane Society or Gentiva Hospice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
