Amil A. Hanson 1916 - 2011

LARNED — Amil A. Hanson, 95, passed away Sept. 25 at the Larned Healthcare Center. Born April 18, 1916, in rural Pawnee County, he was the son of Axel and Mae Nelson Hanson. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/stockman. On Oct. 1, 1950, he married Berniece M. Nuttelman at Great Bend. She survives.

Mr. Hanson was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, the Fort Larned Historical Society, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge of Great Bend, a member of the Pawnee County 4-H Foundation board and also a 4-H leader, sat on the Pawnee County Co-op board, and was a trustee of the Walnut County Township,

Survivors include his wife, Berniece; a son, Lynn Hanson and wife Tama of Pawnee Rock; a daughter Mary Jane Lauer and husband Rod, of Canton; three grandchildren, Kylie Hanson and Brooks Hanson, both of Pawnee Rock, and Casey Lauer, of Studio City, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Hanson; and two sisters, Freda Still and Bernice Kirkpatrick.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend with Pastor James Strasen presiding. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with family present from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Pawnee County 4-H Foundation or the Trinity Lutheran Church, both in care of the funeral home.
