Andrew Jackson Joiner VI

ELLINWOOD — Andrew Jackson Joiner VI, affectionately known as ‘Big Dog’, was born on Aug. 23, 1949, in Ada, Okla., to Louise (Campbell) Joiner and Andrew Jackson Joiner V. He passed away on Feb. 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, friendship, and deep devotion to family.

Jack was raised in Ellinwood, Kan., and later settled in Weatherford, Okla., where he built a life defined by integrity, service, and love for those around him.

He attended Ellinwood High School in Ellinwood, Kan., where he excelled socially and athletically. Jack competed in football, basketball, track and field, golf, and baseball, and was an active member of the student council for four years, serving as President during his senior year. Following high school, he attended Oklahoma State University Tech in Okmulgee, Okla., where he graduated.

Jack spent most of his adult life in the oil and gas industry, proudly dedicating 34 years to Crawley Petroleum. He was widely respected for his integrity, extensive knowledge, and relentless work ethic. After retiring, he continued to serve the industry as a part-time consultant. His professional legacy is one of respect, leadership, and excellence.

A man of strong faith and service, Jack served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church and as a School Board Member in Fairview, Okla. Alongside his best friend, David Blundell, he co-founded the Major Co. Oil and Gas Association, an organization that awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to Major County high school seniors—changing lives and investing in future generations.

Jack also embraced adventure. He enjoyed riding his trike through the mountains and across the country, taking in the beauty of the open road. He loved camping and traveling in his RV to the lake, where evenings were spent playing board games and sharing fellowship with friends.

Above all, Jack was a devoted family man. He traveled countless miles to support his children and grandchildren in athletics and other endeavors. He was fiercely proud of his family and found boundless joy in cheering them on.

Jack had a big personality, a generous heart, and a presence that could fill any room. His presence was often announced by his familiar humming, heard long before he came into view. To many, he was “world famous and widely known.” To those who loved him, he was simply one of a kind.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Joiner; his children and their spouses, Scott (Johnnie) Mead of Graham, Texas, Steffanie (Steve) Hendricks of Mannford, Okla., Jack (Cynthia) Joiner VII of Moore, Okla., Ty (Shelly) Joiner of Tulsa, Okla., Casey (Vanessa) Joiner of Elk City, Okla., and Kelly Joiner of Weatherford, Okla.; daughter-in-law Tamra Stephens of Enid, Okla.; his brother Don (Rosie) Joiner of Ellinwood, Kan.; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the pride of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Andrew Jackson Joiner V; his sister Chris Gresham; his brothers Kevin and Mike Joiner; and his son Bradley Stephens.

A celebration of life service will be held at a future date in Weatherford, Okla. Interment of his ashes will be held at a future date at Lakin Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kan.

Andrew “Big Dog” Jackson Joiner VI leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, generosity, and love—a life well lived and a man who will be deeply missed.
